Founded in 1963, Dalton State College is home to nearly 5,000 students. When May Architecture was awarded design services for the Pope Student Center renovation, the building had not received a major renovation in 40 years and was not adequately serving student’s needs.

As a result of MAY’s re-program and re-design, the Student Center’s lower level now features semiprivate seating perfect for studying, tables for group meetings, and lounge areas for hanging out. There are also now offices for student groups, the Veteran’s Resource room, as well as an enclosed gaming area. The Birdfeeder food pantry has also relocated to the student center and will be open to all students.

The upper level of Pope Center has an expanded servery and expanded board dining space to provide capacity for the growing residential student population. The upper level also supports a new space for the Dean of Student Life Office, which includes career counseling and support services.
