May Architecture was engaged to provide design services for a new Phase 1 Clinical Trials Unit at the new Emory Healthcare Patient Bed Tower. As the first Emory Healthcare and Winship Cancer Institute project which utilized Integrated Facility design, the team utilized active design during an extensive LEAN Design process with all critical stake holders to work collaboratively in defining a new space for the unit’s patient rooms, exam rooms, processing lab, and supporting spaces.

The end deliverable resulted in a refreshing new space which met the goals set forth by the user groups to provide a patient driven design which allowed for maximum daylight for promoting a warm, healing environment for patient experience.
