A 51,600 square foot renovation project of an existing Atlanta cancer center. The patient’s overall experience and the clinic’s efficiency is improved by an increased number of exam rooms, upgraded building circulation, hospitality styled waiting areas, survivorship suite, amenities spaces, and shared staff spaces to support collaborative team-based care. Utilizing Integrated Facility Design (IFD) throughout the entire design process, May Architecture worked together with the client to deepen the engagement and buy-in of patients, faculty, and staff to achieve Winship’s unique goals for the project.

A new, streamlined check-in process allows the waiting area to have less seating. As a result, the lobby features lounge-like arrangements to inspire relaxation in patients and families.

The exam rooms are designed to support bringing care to the patient. Check-in, phlebotomy, examination, and consultation can all happen in one place to reduce the patient’s journey.

The new Survivorship Suite is a multi-purpose, flexible space that supports Winship’s goal of providing holistic care of physical, spiritual, and emotional health through yoga, group therapy, art classes, and seminars.
