May Architecture was engaged to transform an existing 22,000sf generic medical office building into a client branded ambulatory surgery center and clinic. As the building had been originally built over three decades prior, the scope of work would included upgrades to the façade and building site, all-inclusive renovation for the building interior, and a complete replacement of the building infrastructure systems. As a satellite medical office building the clinical space was designed to accommodate clinical space and exam rooms for orthopedics, physical therapy, ophthalmology, routine radiology, and gastrointestinal practices. In addition to the clinical space, the design incorporates an ambulatory surgery center with 3 operating rooms, 4 procedure rooms, and the associated pre/post anesthesia care units and sterile processing. The project team was able to meet an aggressive schedule and remain within budget through an integrated team approach and clear, concise communication.
