This medical office building compliments an existing ambulatory surgery center on the same site, expanding Emory Healthcare’s campus in Dunwoody, Georgia. The building provides a comprehensive range of clinical and diagnostic services, including an orthopedics and sports medicine clinic with a large physical therapy gymnasium, a family medicine practice, and lab services.
Input from over 100 Emory Healthcare clinicians and staff informed every detail, ensuring a space that meets the needs of both care teams and the thousands of patients it will serve annually. The design strategically organizes patient and provider spaces to maximize efficiency and adaptability. Waiting areas and public spaces are positioned along the north side of the building, with exam room corridors (lanes) running perpendicularly to reduce patient travel distances and optimize access and flow between public and back-of-house areas. Staff collaboration zones are centrally located between patient spaces and support areas, ensuring essential resources are always nearby and fostering productivity.
To support operational efficiency, clean supplies, equipment, and soiled holding areas are positioned at corridor ends adjacent to staff zones, ensuring streamlined workflows and maintaining clean and dirty flow separation.
