Gil May was raised in Atlanta and is a graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology. His career has involved projects spanning a wide range of scope and complexity, including higher education design, office interiors, complex medical and research facilities, and public schools. He is dedicated to excellence in architectural and interior design, and several of his projects have won design awards. Additionally, he is devoted to pursuing sustainable design principles in all projects. His professional approach is based on strong communication and extensive experience in coordinating complicated design and building processes with owners, contractors, and a wide range of consultants. His technical depth, quick problem-solving skills, and active personality are known to be especially helpful during today’s fast-paced construction process, where immediate responses are required for complex issues.

Jay is a Georgia native who has lived in the Atlanta area for over 20 years. He earned an undergraduate degree in Business Management and a graduate degree in Building Construction from the Georgia Institute of Technology. His extensive experience in planning and managing projects on the owner’s team in the private and higher education sectors has led to highly developed organizational, problem-solving, communication, and consensus building skills. His focus on business operations assists in the strategic planning and processes that provide the backbone for project success.

Project Manager, May Architecture + Interiors

Emily received her Bachelors in Architecture from the University of Florida and her Masters in Architecture from the Georgia Institute of Technology. As a registered architect she has found continued inspiration in creating functional spaces that are perceived as inviting and comfortable. Her creative problem solving skills are the most influential asset to her process. Her experience in a variety of project types gives her a fresh perspective when beginning any project.

Project Manager, May Architecture + Interiors

A graduate of Western Michigan University, with a B.S. of Interior Design, Shelly relocated to Atlanta in 2008. She spent the first six years of her career designing bio-containment and chemical containment laboratories across the globe including India, Kyrgyzstan, Mexico and the UK. The focus and problem solving skills learned from these detail oriented projects has helped her when approaching new design challenges. An intense passion for design combined with her technical background allows her to translate clients’ visions into reality.

Dena Patterson
Project Manager, May Architecture + Interiors

Dena is a graduate of Auburn University where she received both Architecture and Interior Design degrees. She has been practicing in Atlanta for fifteen years and has gained knowledge in all phases of design of various project types. For the last ten years, her focus has been in healthcare and higher education, where her experience has included a freestanding hospital tower and a bio-medical research facility.

Susan Milton
Senior Interior Designer, May Architecture + Interiors

Susan was raised in Georgia and received her degree in Furnishings and Interiors from the University of Georgia. With a passion for interior design, she draws experience from 16 years in interior design, including 5 years at Ivan Allen in furniture procurement and almost 10 years at Emory University’s Interior Design group in the the Campus Services, Planning Design and Construction unit. Susan enjoys interacting with clients to understand their needs, marrying their elements with design to create dynamic spaces.

Mary Roberts
Intern Architect, May Architecture + Interiors

A graduate from Clemson University’s Master of Architecture program, Mary recently moved back to Atlanta to pursue her professional career. Her Architectural degree combined with an undergraduate degree in Interior Design from the University of Georgia give Mary a unique perspective throughout the design process. Whether she is considering the smallest item or space in a building or the entire structure, Mary endeavors to stay true to the functionality and purpose of every element.

Meredith Black
Intern Architect, May Architecture + Interiors

Raised in the Atlanta area, Meredith received her B.S. in Architecture from the Georgia Institute of Technology, after which she moved to France and received her Master of Architecture at the École Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture de Paris La Villette. During her time in Paris, she also worked with award-winning French architects on various scenography and competition projects, including Paris Habitat, the Arthur Rimbaud Museum, and the Centre Pompidou Metz. Since returning to Atlanta, she has worked on many local commercial projects and uses her international experience to deliver creativity and energy to any project.

Christopher Curtis
Interior Designer, May Architecture + Interiors

Before owning a successful small business in Atlanta, Christopher served as sculptor, model builder and illustrator for the Appalachian State University Museum Exhibits Program and worked as a Scene Designer and Assistant Technical Director in regional theater productions in North Carolina and Florida. He was ultimately drawn to interior design and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design from Georgia State University. Since then he has gained experience in multi-family and hospitality projects and is now enjoying the opportunities and challenges of health care and higher education interior design.

Cassidy Lyle
Junior Interior Designer, May Architecture + Interiors

Cassidy was born and raised in the Atlanta area and received her degree in Interior Design from the University of Georgia. In addition to her degree, Cassidy gained design experience through internships with both a private architecture firm as well as the University of Georgia Office of University Architects. Her background in both interior architecture and mixed media design helps achieve her desire to create spaces that encourage and inspire people.
